You've heard it said before: "We're in the last days!" People have been saying this for a long time, and it's true. We really are living in the end of days, and our Lord Jesus is coming soon. As you read through the Gospels, you see that Jesus said numerous times to be ready and to live ready, but that's not all Jesus said. Let's look at the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus said what we are about to read to His disciples in general, but it's for us today, too.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. ”Matthew 28:18-20
In verse 18, Jesus said, "All power [exousia in the Greek, and it means authority] is given unto me in heaven and earth." Notice that Jesus used the word all–not 30% power, not 60% power–but all power has been given to Him. That's a great thing, and is really important when it comes to doing what Jesus told us to do in verse 19: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…" He told us to go forth and teach all nations. The Greek word for teach means to become a pupil; to be a disciple, to instruct. Nations is ethnos in the Greek and it means a race, a tribe, especially, a foreign one.
Jesus has been given all power and then, as a result of His redemptive work at Calvary, He delegated His authority or power to us, the believer, so that we can go out and "teach all nations" the Word of God. We are to disciple every race of people and every tribe that we encounter, particularly those in foreign lands. We do this through instruction in the Word of God.
The word observe in verse 20 means to guard from loss or injury, properly, by keeping the eye upon. As we teach others how to receive the Word and how to believe or exercise faith in the Word, we should be checking up on them to make sure they remain steady in the Word regarding all its life applications–faith, healing, finance, peace, love, joy and other areas from the Word of God. We share the Word and teach them how to hold on to the revealed truths in the Word.
Discipleship is not a "preach it and leave em" kind of plan. It's nurturing and teaching them so that they can become strong believers; then, they can go out into their communities and preach Christ. It's a grassroots plan to win the world for Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Where is your assignment?
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, that there are differences of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord, and different workings and effects of the Holy Spirit.
“ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. ”1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Paul also said in verse 18 of the same chapter: "But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him." And finally, verse 28 it tells us that "God hath set some in the church . . ." and then it mentions different ministry gifts and operations.
Although Jesus said to His disciples in general to "go into all the world," each particular member of the body of Christ is assigned to certain parts of the world. Part of their assignment is to see to it that the people there are taught the Word, as well as how to observe the things Jesus said.
Some teaching, some preaching
In Mark 16:15, again speaking to His disciples, Jesus said: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Usually with ministry gifts, those who are called to preach also do a little bit of teaching as well. And those who are called to teach do a little bit of preaching as well.
The Lord has called Keith Butler Ministries (KBM) and me to teach the Gospel, especially, but not limited to the following areas outside of the United States:
In 2003, we established a church in Toronto, Canada. In addition, we have a PISTIS School of Ministry in Toronto. PISTIS is designed to provide more in-depth teaching and training in ministry to help people operate effectively in their callings in their respective locations.
Our church in London, England opened in 2002. We also have a church in Luton.
PISTIS School of Ministry is located in Krakow, Poland. We will soon open additional locations in the nation of Poland.
We have a church and PISTIS School of Ministry in Pretoria, South Africa. We also have a PISTIS School of Ministry in Nairobi, Kenya.
We also have churches in Sofia and Varna, as well as a PISTIS School of Ministry in Sofia.
We have a church in Brussels, Belgium.
In September 2015, we opened PISTIS School of Ministry in Athens, Greece and in January 2017, we opened Kentro Pistis, our chruch in Athens.
God is moving around the world! We are planning to open churches in St. Petersburg, Russia and Marseille, France. Soon after these churches open, it is our goal to open our PISTIS School of Ministry in these regions.
PISTIS School of Ministry
As I mentioned earlier, PISTIS School of Ministry (PSOM) is a Bible training center that uses a two-year, accredited* school curriculum designed to prepare and fully equip ministers to go out and preach the Gospel. Our curriculum is structured to develop every area that is vital for stability, strength and growth in a ministry. God has given PSOM sound teachers of the Scriptures to impart wisdom into the hearts and lives of our students.
Our School of Ministry concept includes educational and practical application opportunities in five (5) basic areas: Pastoral, Administrative, Missions, Music and Helps. For more information about PISTIS, call 214.559.6135 or visit us online at faith4life.cc.
Three phases of ministry unfold
In January 1979, I embarked on the first phase of the ministry that our Lord Jesus called me to. My wife Deborah and I opened Word of Faith Christian Center in a small, storefront, building in Detroit, Michigan. Starting with 10 people, including my wife and me, the Word of God was taught to everyone who came through our doors. God moved mightily in the lives of all who came through those doors. I also traveled around the country as an itinerant teacher of the Word. The ministry grew and continued to grow until our church membership reached 20,000 plus.
Of course, as the number grew, so did our church locations until we bought the beautiful 110 acres of prime land in Southfield, Michigan. Over these years, the Lord instructed me to change the name of our ministry to Word of Faith International Christian Center in preparation for the work that was to come.
The second phase of the ministry for me was to established Word-based ministries around the United States. Today, we have churches in 14 states and several cities around the United States. Many of our satellite churches have opened other churches through their ministries. Consequently, another component in the second phase of my ministry is that of Pastor and Overseer to other Pastors and Ministers in and outside of the United States. We accomplished these works when I was Pastor of Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, Michigan.
Today, Deborah and I are entering the third phase of our ministry–to teach and to preach the Gospel message around the world. Our responsibility is to reach every continent with the Word, and that's what we're going to do.
“ But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. ”Acts 1:8
In this third phase of my ministry, we are to "Teach the Word, Do the Work and Touch the World" through the Live Your Faith Seminars and the establishment of PISTIS Schools of Ministry. In addition, wherever the Holy Spirit says to establish churches outside of the United States, we will do so.
Keith Butler Ministries in full force!
God is so good! All of the work we have done to date has culminated into and works well together with KBM. KBM is launching its mission to reach the world for Jesus Christ in full force. We're excited about the doors that are opening for us as we implement God's plan for KBM.
*Our PISTIS School of Ministry curriculum is accredited in Toronto, Canada; this same curriculum is used internationally.
